John Henry Stockman waas a Confederate Soldier volunteering for Company C, Captain Peter Goodwin's Company of the 6th South Carolina Calvary on July 1, 1862 He was discharged in May 1865 in Goldsborough, North Carolina. He soon moved to Levy County, Florida. He married Martha E. Hughey in 1854 in Abbyville, SC
