Descendants of Hiram GIBSON

Second Generation

8. Elizabeth GIBSON [scrapbook] (Hiram ) was born Oct 1865 in Highland, Macon, North Carolina. She died 21 Jan 1934 in Palm Harbor, Pinellas, Florida and was buried Jan 1934 in Curlew Cem, Pinellas, Florida.

There is not a lot of information on Johnson Guy and Elizabeth Gibson but this information we know to be fact.  My grandmother Sally sometimes spelled (Sallie) (Gibson) Daniel and Melba (Daniel) Lipsey my mother still living as of 2007 past this information on to me.  My Grandmother Sally (Gibson) Daniel also had a sister Rosetta (Gibson) Calloway. Rosetta and Sallie Gibson were the illegitimate Children of Johnson Guy and Elizabeth Gibson they were given the name of Gibson instead of Guy.  Rosetta married Robert Calloway and lived in Knoxville TN until her death.  My grandmother told me that she and Rosetta her older sister lived with and grew up in the household of Hiram Gibson.  My grandmother Sallie Gibson and her sister moved to Michigan and worked in the Warren Featherbone Factory for several years until Rosetta and her husband Robert Calloway moved to Knoxville, TN where the both lived until their deaths.  Sally moved to Florida and married Elmer Daniel and had 3 children Maxine, Melba and Elmer Doyle Daniel.

It is no surprise that Sallie and Rosetta do not show up on any census records in NC since they were born out of wedlock to Johnson Guy and Elizabeth Gibson my great grandmother.

We are not sure if Hiram Gibson was the father of Elizabeth Gibson she would never talk about who her father was however we do know that Sally Gibson and Rosetta Gibson did grow up in the household of Hiram Gibson because they told us that information.  It has always been suspected that Elizabeth may have been a child born out of wedlock also.

Sallie Gibson did however show up in 1910 on the census in Michigan she was 19 years old and working in the Warren Featherbone Factory.

We know very little about Johnson Guy from what we have been able to find out from some of the family in Franklin, NC is that Johnson Guy was said to be a Saponi Indian.  There was a Gibson family bible that belonged to someone I cannot name here in this report who lived around Franklin, NC which my mother saw in 1979 but was never allowed to look at because they were embarrassed about some of the illegitimate marriages and incestuous relationships that happened many decades previous.  She told my mother that this information would die with her and we suspect it did in(2004) I do have the name of one person that is still living that possible knew some of this information but I have never been able to talk with her.  I would be glad to share this information privately.
